It&#8217;s the end of their term.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still complaints come in from spoiled CRA staff:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>&#8220;&#8221;The employees will be gone but the workload will remain.&#8221; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Boo. Hoo. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p>\u201cA lot of people broke out crying on the premises yesterday, there were a lot of people who were distressed and they were in shock to find that out,\u201d Bri\u00e8re said. \u201cThe employees will be gone but the workload will remain.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI don\u2019t understand why the CRA is targeting collections and audit when it\u2019s your bread and butter,\u201d Bri\u00e8re said, adding that the government has spent unnecessary funds on bringing workers back to the office.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point, Bri\u00e8re said the CRA isn\u2019t planning to cut any permanent positions. It\u2019s also not planning to make any additional cuts in 2024.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m certain that in 2025, I don\u2019t know when or what time, but there will be some at one point that\u2019s for sure,\u201d Bri\u00e8re said, noting that the CRA wouldn\u2019t guarantee that no cuts were coming, only that they weren\u2019t expected in the next few months. \u201cA lot of people are very nervous, even the permanent employees.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Commentary:<\/strong> We need to cut taxes and CUT THE CRA head counts, simplify the tax code. It&#8217;s really as simple as that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Who is Marc Bri\u00e8re?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Marc Bri\u00e8re is a prominent figure in labor unions, particularly within the <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ute-sei.org\/en\" title=\"\">Union of Taxation Employees (UTE)<\/a><\/strong>, which represents employees at the <strong>Canada Revenue Agency (CRA)<\/strong>. He has been actively involved in union affairs since 2004, holding various leadership roles. He was elected <strong>National President of the Union of Taxation Employees<\/strong> in 2017 and has been re-elected multiple times, most recently in August 2023<sup>[2][3]<\/sup>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Marc Bri\u00e8re&#8217;s Professional Background:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Union Leadership<\/strong>: Marc Bri\u00e8re has served as the National President of the UTE since 2017.
